Hello, friends!
Last week, I sent out an update to my author newsletter subscribers, and in that update, I included two mini surveys, looking for people’s opinions. I figured, why not cast the net a little wider? 😊 So, I’m including the surveys in this post, and I’d love for you to weigh in.
One involves my knitting, which I’ve jumped back into after releasing The Daze Before Christmas. Unlike other authors, I require some non-writing time for my creative juices to recharge before submersing myself yet again into an imaginary world with imaginary friends. 😋

For me, that means crafting, which usually means knitting, and this go-round, I’m working on several projects at once: Christmas stockings, stuffed animals for babies due this spring, an infinity scarf, a cowl, and I’m hoping to start on an over-size sweater and felted mittens soon.

As I mentioned in my newsletter, I’m a left-handed knitter, therefore I come at knitting patterns from the opposite direction than a right-handed knitter would. Most of the time, that doesn’t matter so much. I’d actually been knitting for a few years before I learned through trial and error when it does matter, especially when it comes to cables. 😬 How many other left-handed knitters have had the same problem, I wonder? And how many lefties don’t even attempt knitting because the patterns are written for right-handed people?
Now that I have 25 years of knitting experience under my belt, I’m contemplating starting a YouTube channel specifically for left-handed knitters. But is there a need for it? 🤷♀️ Would those in need even find my channel?! And let’s be honest, what happens when a new story idea eventually captures my imagination? Will I have the time (and motivation) to continue making YouTube videos when I love writing more than knitting? (I know, I know—you can’t answer that last question for me. 😂)
Still, I’m curious: what do you think? Are you a left-handed knitter, or do you know a left-handed knitter or knitter-wanna-be, who might benefit from learning tips and tricks from a fellow Southpaw? Let me know in the questionnaire!
The second survey involves my writing. Currently, I’m trying to plot out another Christmas fantasy novel which would take place in the not-too-distant future and feature the next generation of Kringle teenagers. Yet Hubby and my youngest daughter (not so young anymore at age 18) want me to write something not Christmas related; possibly along the lines of something in time for the United States Semi-quincentennial celebration in July 2026—which means I’d need to be plotting and writing ASAP. But I also have the barest of a skeleton plot for a high fantasy novel that takes place in a completely different world with its own magic system and government structure. Should I attempt to flesh that out? 🤔
What do you think? What would you like to see more of in the future from me? Let me know in this questionnaire:
Thanks for your feedback! And a special thanks to everyone who supported me and bought a copy of The Daze Before Christmas. 🥰 Feel free to leave any further comments or suggestions below.
Until next time! ❤️
