Oh, my poor blog. It has gotten booted down the priority ladder all too frequently in the last few years. But one good thing has come out of its creation, I suppose: its name. I use it for my DBA publishing name, it will be the name I’ll use if I ever officially hang up a fiction-editing shingle in the future, and it’s the name I use at craft fairs when selling my knitting and books. There’s a reason I chose scattered as part of the title. 😉
Okay, quick update on life:
Hubby is still out of a job. Grrr. He’s applied to so many positions, has gone in for interviews with some companies, and yet despite all the skills, wisdom, knowledge, integrity, etc., he has to offer, he’s been passed over each time. I won’t lie and say I don’t have times of worry or panic or fear or frustration or anger. I experience the gamut of emotions—although thankfully not every day. 😅 And honestly, God has been faithful. Our finances have somehow lasted far longer than Hubby thought they would, and twice now, when I felt like we were scraping pennies off the bottom of the proverbial barrel, God provided in very specific ways. These last two years have been a big lesson in trust, and I while I might pass the final, I’ve definitely bombed a couple of the pop quizzes. 😬
Update on my book:
The Daze Before Christmas releases November 1st! 🎉 I used a company based in the Ukraine for the book cover, and I felt they did a wonderful job. I won’t hesitate to use them in the future, and I fully recommend them to other authors, especially those of us on a tight budget. (Although, regardless of budget, a good book cover is a must; thankfully, GetCovers.com offers both!)

She fled her old life for a new one. Trouble is, she can’t remember why she ran.
Struggling artist Gwynn Sadler never planned to return to her hometown after escaping from a teenage tragedy nine years ago. She left everyone to believe she’d died, including the boy she loved, and buried painful memories in the process.
Such is the price for safety.
Then an unsettling encounter with a jolly old gentleman three weeks before Christmas triggers a hasty return to her mountain roots, where Gwynn collides with her former crush and wrestles against the dark secrets in her past.
Unable to immediately retreat to the security of her new life, Gwynn feels trapped. The Lord promises the truth will set her free, but how can she confront the very memories that might reveal a monster in the mirror?
An inspirational Christmas romance with a splash of intrigue and a dash of whimsy.
Ebook pre-orders are available through Apple, Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and other major digital platforms. You can order paperback books on Amazon starting November 1st, but it’s possible that you can pre-order paperbacks through your favorite local bookstore. Just supply them with the title and my name.
That’s all for now. We’re in the process of getting our house ready to put on the market, so I gotta go continue to pack and clean and put boxes into storage and do all the things that will likely take up a big part of my life for the next few weeks. I pray you’re enjoying your October thus far. I can’t complain about the cooler weather. 😊
